We have much to offer, a little something for everyone. From a gentle walk to the Whaling Station (10 mins), or to the Loop track. This takes you around the farm up to the top of the island where you can do the yodel at the top of your lungs and take in the breath-taking views of the outer sounds. And if you are really lucky, a view of Mt Taranaki. (5 Km). For those who wish to relax, and able to watch the world go by, you will be able to see the daily never-ending Cook Strait ferry service. There is plenty of history here, where many stories have been told and shared.
Back in the bay we can offer you an insight of all the procedures that we have taken to present our Paua Pearl Farm. We will show you what we have done in the past, what we are up to now and where this may take us in the future.
Yes, we have Paua pearls to show you of every colour and grade. As well as jewellery that can be purchased here both in Gold and Sterling Silver, made only by local jewellers here in Marlborough. You can even choose a pearl, and have it designed into your very own piece of jewellery, no job is too big or to small.
We are also the only hatchery in New Zealand where we can out plant baby Paua and during the tour we can show how we spawn Paua and all the work that has gone into such a huge part of our operation. Our garden is available to stroll throughout, with large native trees to view and bird life to enjoy and hear.
When you arrive, there will always be someone here to meet you. We have 3 registered mooring available in the bay. We will help you with your gear and take you to your accommodation. A good tip to know if arriving with your own boat is, stern into the wind. This helps you tie up easily to our ladder at the end of our wharf.
For the fishing enthusiasts you can fish off our wharf in the early morning or later in the day are the best times. Always check the rules. We are lucky enough to have a Vodafone cell phone tower here so a great way to keep in contact if need be.
There is plenty of freezer space and for a larger function we even have a chiller available to help you out.
Weather permitting helicopters can arrive on our beach to collect or drop of anyone keen to stay in the accommodations available, or come along for the Paua Pearl Tour that takes roughly 90mins.
Arapawa Homestead will turn your occasion into a very memorable, not forgotten experience. A must do for your bucket list!
We look forward to meeting you all!
Staying at Arapawa was a fantastic and truly unique experience! We were a family of twelve staying at the beach cottage. We watched from the deck the kids swimming, fishing and playing on the beach. We enjoyed walks to the whaling station and around the farm. We learnt so much from the whole Raddon family! This was a unique and true getaway!
